Ernie, Submitted by Joe Morweiser, owned by The
Hermann's
You know working in rescue you see all sorts of dogs come in to
the system. Thank God some dogs only need a couple weeks of
extra food and training and they bounce back quickly.
I received a call to pick up a dog that a guy that has been holding a
stray for over a month while he advertised the dog in paper, radio
and made up flyers. I assisted in trying to find the owner after I took
him in as well. Ernie just wandered into this guy’s yard one day,
starving but otherwise in good health. It was just after one of the
storms we had in the last couple years.
The gentleman that contacted the BTCA could not keep him but
wanted to find a good home for him.
I remember driving down to the Homestead area of Florida, an area
made famous by Hurricane Andrew. When I met Ernie, it was
instantly apparent that he was a really sweet dog.
It did not take long to put weight on him, and after being taught a
few manners out popped a truly magnificent animal both on the
inside and out. We guessed his age to be about a year if my
memory serves me correctly.
The Hermann’s had an application in with the BTCA and were
chosen to adopt him have been everything a rescue group could
hope for in a forever home. I really love people that I have placed
a dog in the house and months later I get an email with photos. I
just received these photos today and his eyes just melt your heart
don' they?

"This photo with the hat was taken at Thanksgiving 2006. My daughter bought that for him and he wore it for about an hour while our guests were here for dinner. He actually didn't mind having it on. He's a real clown!"

Forever homes like the Hermann's are so important to us working in rescue. Look at these photos, is this dog loved or what?
