Why the Bullyton?
In one shelter in South FL alone there are 80-120
animals put to death daily. The National reported
numbers are about 8 million. Florida, along with
California, New York and select areas of the County
are hot beds of English Bull Terrier rescues. In some
cases as many as 3 dogs have been placed by
SFBTRL in one day and as many as 5 dogs have
been requested picked-up by kill shelters, police
departments or owners simply threatening to take the
dog to a kill shelter.
We believe that a lot of the reported numbers are
inflated and we stand by the idea that the numbers are
purposely inflated. Dogs are imported from outside the
US, and the problem is more of reason to put BSL
laws in place. We believe in responsible dog
ownership. Inflation or not there are a lot of pure bred
Bull Terriers in rescue.
The BULLYTON is a newsletter designed to reach
shelters, Bully owners, Clubs and Rescue clubs as an
informational guide that will feature Columnists
reporting on their respective subjects.
It is our hope that we reduce the amount of dogs
entering the shelter system through education and
training advice.
