BSL - Breed Specific Legislation, Animal Discrimination, Civil Rights, Rescue Effects
BSL, or Breed specific legislation effects us all. It does not matter that the majority of the legislation
leans towards one breed or not; eventually our rights and the rights of our animals are eventually being
eroded away. For us BSL also encompasses the smaller rules and regulations that some, local, State
and Federal government lawmakers are proposing.
For example limiting the amount of dogs you can own, imposing large fees to own certain breeds.
Making us carry insurance or even keeping the dog confined to a certain area.
Why do we not agree with this? Breed identification is an impossible task in the first place. It does not
matter what breed you own, but face it we are mostly Bull Terrier people. And it is only a matter of time
before one law passed that encroaches on our Constitutional rights comes closer to adding Bull
Terriers and other breeds until the point where we will loose more and more rights. BSL so far has
proved ineffective in many States. BSL is expensive on both sides.
We stress owner responsibility. Mainly because many of us have been handling Bull Terriers and have
yet to have a bite mark. Yet the media is quick to point out when there is a bite from a "bull breed".
